9M1Z is a Malaysian expedition callsign that spent 2024 putting the islands of East Malaysia on the air, band by band, from the sand.

The year fell into two chapters. First came Borneo itself — IOTA OC-088 — activated from the tips of Sarawak and Sabah to test the team and its kit. Then the station went to sea for the Semporna islands — IOTA OC-133 — a fifteen-day run across four reef islands with younger operators sharing the keys. Both chapters worked the world in SSB, CW and the digital modes, and both share the same band plan and QSL routes below.
